I received the following email today for a dive outing.
We have some interested parties in diving Coiba the end of July, however, need a few more to make it happen!
We’re only going to do one night’s stay – Sunday July 27th to Monday July 28th. The plan is to depart Boca Chica at 6:00 am Sunday morning and return to port approximately 8:00 pm Monday night. Again, for those interested, you can camp out at Carlos’ place Saturday night.
Cost is $475 per person for both days – this covers the usual; boat, equipment, dives (hopefully 6 total), a night dive, meals, park fee and lodging on the island.
For those of you snorkelers that would like to get on board we will give you a price break! $239 will cover all the above (except the diving).
Please pass the word on to your friends!
Get back to me and let me know if you’re interested so we can pencil you in!

I am disappointed. I had planned on going on a trip to Coiba at the end of March, with Rey Sanchez. I received the following email from Rey, which indicates that the trip has been postponed until April 27-30. The original post related to the trip is HERE.
I guess the good news for you, is that you can still get in on the trip if you are interested in diving.
Due to not enough interest on our March to April Fun in the Sun and Underwater Adventure trip to Coiba,Golden Frog Scuba will postpone the trip to the end of April 27-30. We hope to see you there.
Please feel free to email if questions arise!!

I received the following email for an upcoming dive excursion to Coiba.
Que sopa to all ñequeros,
Once more we are planning to make our way south to the heavenly Island of Coiba. For most of us, our last trip was a trip to remember, and for only a few (we won’t mention names) comes the phrase: “what happens in Coiba stays in Coiba”. Continue reading Que sopa to all ñequeros
I just received the following email today. Rey was on my previous kayak trip and we talked about going out on other adventures. My mind is game. Who knows?
Hey Don Ray,
Wanted to let you know that our website
(www.goldenfrogscuba.com) is now “up and running”.
Rey thought you might want to check it out as he was
remembering your kayak adventure a few months back and
wanted to let you know he’s ready to give you dive
lessons whenever you are! Or even just a boat ride to
some of the spots we visit. There’s a few pics on the
If you have any friends that like to dive, or want to
learn, feel free to pass along our website to them.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks and enjoy,

Thursday, I had the good fortune to meet Rey Sanchez. A friend of mine had invited me to go kayaking in the La Barqueta area and Rey is a neighbor of my friend and he went with us.
Rey is a Panamanian who has recently returned form living in Arizona for many years. As you can see from Rey’s cards above he is a diving instructor and after meeting him, I have added another adventure to my adventure To Do list.
He told me that his oldest student has been over 80 years old and after going out with Rey, all he could say was, “Why did I ever wait this long to do this?” Well if an 80+ year old can do it, then I probably can too.
If you are coming to Panama and want to try your hand at diving, you might want to look Rey up. After spending a fair amount of time with him, I can vouch for him being a real fine person, that definitely knows Panama and can converse equally well in English or Spanish.
If you contact Rey, tell him that his friend Don Ray, from Chiriquí Chatter, sent you.
