Yesterday, I dropped into the Stylo Restaurant in Hotel Ciudad de David. The last time I was there to eat was on Thanksgiving and the restaurant didn’t have their permanent menu yet. I thought yesterday would be a good time to drop in and take a look at the menu.

Hotel Best Western David is now open. Formerly it was Hotel Panama Rey.
I stopped by and Susan Aguilera, the General Manager, gave me a tour. Thank you Susan.

Yesterday, Hotel Ciudad de David had its official inauguration. President Martinelli was scheduled for the event. I arrived around 4:00 PM and you knew that a big event was happening because of all of the police.
It is not everyday that the President of Panama is in David.

A new hotel has opened up, close to Parque Cervantes. It is the Residencial Chiriquí Hotel. To get to the hotel, starting at the Parque Cervantes corner with Technofoto, walk against the traffic toward Fletes Chavale. The following sign identifies the hotel.

It appears that the remodeling of Hotel Panama Rey is moving right along. One person told me it will be completed in the next three months.
When it completes, it will have some pretty nice views of the city.

Last night I was invited to dinner, at the Hotel Gran Nacional, by some Chiriquí Chatter readers from Arlington, Virginia. It had been a while since I had eaten at the Gran Nacional. I had forgotten how tasty the barbecued chicken is.

I had heard that the Hotel Panama Rey had been sold. Yesterday, I noticed that it is under renovation, so that sort of confirms the rumor. I will mis eating at Cafe Don Sui.

A while back someone had asked me about the progress of a new hotel that is being built across from Oteima. Here is a current photo. As you can see, it still has a way to go, but this appears to be the largest hotel development in David.
