I just noticed a new post on Hal’s BookMark site. He calls the post “Hard Times Sale“. That is just what I would expect from Hal. Always wanting to help his fellow man. In my book, the BookMark is still the best place in Chiriquí to find reading material. And the BookMark is eco friendly. After you read your books, bring them back and Hal credits 1/2 of that book’s rental price toward another book. How great is that!
If you stop in Dolega, at the Bookmark, tell Hal I said hello.

I received a request to assist a student in a class project in the US. The project was to receive postcards from around the world from Spanish speaking countries. Following was the specification of what was desired.
Dear Mr. Williams,
Frankie and I thank you for your help!
At your convenience, please mail a postcard to:
Srta. Purdy, Class 3-21
Saint James School
830 West Broad Street
Falls Church, VA 22046
USA
If you speak Spanish, would you please write a sentence on the card?
Frank’s 3rd class is studying US geography and each student has mailed ten letters to various states requesting postcards to aid/interest/excite their study. His Spanish teacher has dove-tailed onto this project, having the class mail two letters requesting postcards from Spanish speaking countries.
Thanks, again!
Fondly,
Karen

The other day I needed to have a link taken out of a watch band. I went back to El Marquez. This is where I go anytime I need a battery replaced or general watch assistance. If he can’t fix it, he will tell you where to go.
This shop always has a large number of wall type clocks that are being repaired or in for cleaning, so they work on more than just watches.
If you drop in, tell Marquez, that you heard about him on Chiriquí Chatter. This is Marquez working on my watch.

Directions to the shop can be found on the previous post.

Well, I am sure that several of you tried to view Chiriquí Chatter during the last 17+ hours and were unsuccessful. As I write this, everything seems to be restored. Apparently my web host had to restore libraries. I know that libraries were restored, because the last photo I had uploaded was not there and I had to upload it again.
If you have problems reaching CC, remember that I set up a secondary site that I use to document any problems that are going on. It is frustrating for me when the site is down and it may be frustrating for others as well. Sometimes knowing that a problem exists and is being worked on helps. For that reason I set up the Chiriquí Chatter Status Site.
In it you should fine a notification of the site being down, provided I know about it. When it is back up, I will document the time I found it available.
Recently, I noticed that all of my Coppermine albums were down. This may have been from another move made by my web host and I just didn’t notice it at that time. I had submitted a trouble tick on it and received no help at that time. I see that with this current library restoration, that the Coppermine Albums are back as well. That makes ma happy, because those photo albums require a lot of work and time to rebuild.
Thanks for being patient. This is good training, if you are one of those people that are planning on moving to Panama.

received a request to publish the following announcement for a charity event in Boquete.

Please Support Boquete’s Charitable Organizations on Dec. 7, 2008
Four charitable organizations serving the needs of the Boquete community are sponsoring a Silent and Live Auction, Patio, Book and Bake sale on December 7 at 2pm. in the Arco Iris Building in the Fairgrounds.
