I received the following email announcement from Boquete:
Boquete Community Players is putting on its Second Annual Art Show in August…. the feria de ARTE which is being held in the Salon Orquidea of the main Feria Building.
feria de ARTE kicks off at 7pm on August 15 with a Gala Opening Reception for BCP members (only) and their guests, the Artists and their family.
feria de ARTE is open to the public on Saturday, August 16th from 1pm to 7pm and on Sunday, August 17th from 11pm to 5pm. A $2.00 ticket gets you in the door and enrolls you in a daily raffle of prizes.
feria de ARTE is being held in a much larger venue than last year’s art show. This translates to: a wider selection of artists and styles from which to choose … a social area with tables and chairs to sit and relax, sip some wine, have a bite to eat, talk with friends and/or just observe the festivities … and plenty of convenient parking.
We will offer wide a variety of entertainments throughout the Art Show, and many exciting raffle prizes such as: a one-night stay at beautiful Rancho de Caldera and the Historic Panamonte; a facial and a massage at the Haven Spa; dinners at local restaurants and much more.
Here’s what’s happening on Friday
● A painting will be auctioned
● A raffle held
● Flute playing and poetry reading
Here’s what’s happening on Saturday from 1pm to 7pm:
● 1st up … Phyllis McNaughton does Comedy Improv
● 2nd up … Show tunes by Kent, Richelle, Gordon & Bill
● 3rd up … Dancing by Dora Ruiz’s Conjunto Typico Children
● 4th up … Devil Dancers

I spent a fair amount of time trying to decide what material to use for Dario’s class today. I finally decided to use one of John Grisham’s books. I have had it on the shelf to be read, so I will kill two birds with one book. I will get started reading this novel and I will introduce them to an interesting author.
This afternoon, I will see if I can get the Linux PC display up and running. Theoretically all I should have to do is configure the PC to use the store’s wireless router. If all goes well, the installation will not take long and then I can take some photos.
I hope that seeing Linux run will be enough to raise the interest in a few people to consider Linux instead of the higher priced systems of Microsoft and Apple. For people that want to play games, I suggest a wii, PS3 or Xbox.
The sun is shining. I am prepared. It is going to be a great day.

Last night we had one heck of a big rain. Complete with some of the biggest thunder bumpers I have ever heard. It looked like the fourth of July outside.
Every time it would thunder, all of the car’s alarms would go off because of the ground shaking. I had just downloaded a program and was burning a DVD when this loud BOOM went off and the house was flooded with darkness. Note to self – buy a flashlight. Luckily, because the PC was on, I had enough light from the monitor to find the candles.
It took about 5 minutes for the DVD to complete the burning process and then I shut down the PC. It must have taken another hour before the electricity came back. I was convinced it would be out all night. Then by accident I found that TVMAX was showing all of the Olympics of the day and stayed up a while longer to watch them.
I guess, because of the hard rain, I slept until 9:00 this morning. That is never heard of. I am usually up at 6:30. The morning is cool and there is still a light shower coming down. Gosh, what a wonderful day!
