Cable Onda 9:00 AM Speed test

December 29

Talked to Janice Singleton and she said nothing is wrong with the modem and they don’t typically send technicians out for speed problems. Not a happy camper.

  1. Speed “problem”? Service not received problem !!!!
With data in hand seems it’s time for an up close and personal visit to the Cable Onda office……or…was this it?

If so, then the next visit is ACODECO. Something has gotta happen with this. You are paying for something you are not getting.

  2. I found that being nice, like you are, doesn’t get you very far. Basically I told them that I wasn’t getting anywhere near the service I was paying for and I was seriously considering going elsewhere. Trust me, they don’t want to lose a customer. Especially a “gringo” that will tell everyone of the lousy service they are getting or they got before switching.

  3. Not that this is definitely the reason your tracert is not completing to Cable Onda, but many ISPs block ICMP echo requests, so seeing a timeout is not necessarily an issue that causes latency, slow speeds, etc.

    Good luck!

  4. Dude – I agree. However, the ms on the rest of the traceroute don’t look very respectable to me, and when combined with the other tests still indicate a problem.

  5. Hi Don: Please correct me if I am wrong. It appears that you are getting more or less what you are paying for on the Download side . It appears that the Upload side is atrocious. Have you tried using another computer, not your Mac but a PC, and made a direct Ethernet connection bypassing your router. Please don’t go ‘type A’ on me, I’m just trying to help. Also, I wouldn’t threaten Cable Onda on going elsewhere as 004143 or B&A suggested unless you want to pay through the nose for another ISP and no telling what issues you end up with them.
    Patrick

  6. Hi Patrick. In January I will have a MacMini hooked up close to the modem and can do as you said. I am going to write an update about the CO Technician visit. Very positive experience.
