Amazing!

I just received an email from Tom McCormack. He will head back to the US in about two weeks.

He said that his current counts were 48 legs and 36 hands fitted at the cost to the individuals of $0.00.

When I lived and worked in the Washington D.C area, I remember one of my team members coming in one morning and telling of his previous evening’s trip home from work. If you have ever driven on the beltway in Washington DC, you know what a stressful place that is.

This was his story. He said on his way home his car overheated and died in the middle of traffic. He got out and was trying to push and maneuver his car to the right side of the road and out of traffic.

He said a person pulled up beside him as sweat was streaming down his back. He said the fellow rolled down his window and asked if he wanted a hand. He said he replied he really could use one. The other fellow took both hands off the steering wheel, clapped and then, drove off laughing.

I like Tom’s idea of giving a person a hand better.

Next Thursday at 2:00PM, Tom will be in David’s Parque Cervantes with several of the people that have benefited from this program. He will also have several of the old prosthesis that were replaced. The improvement will be evident.

I plan on being there to record it. Hopefully this will motivate more people to contribute to Tom’s Foundation so that he can help more people.

If you want to see smiles that have replaced sadness, if you want to feel the love that flows from those that have been helped, or better yet, if you want to play a part in the next distribution, then come on down and join in.

Check out Tom’s Foundation’s Website. Help Tom help others, one person at a time. If you have never read about the containers that Tom has brought to Chiriquí, here is the last delivery.

  1. Don,

Greetings from Boston! My name is Emilio Knox and although we’ve never met, you, on September 29, 2011, were kind enough to profile me in your blog as the “chiricano, living in the States” who got the Lionesses of Chorerra free and on their way to their new home at the “Wild Animal Sanctuary” in Colorado.

I will be in David from Tuesday March 5 – 12 to see Dra. Miriam for serious dental work and of course see family. I would love to meet you in person during that time? I do have updated photos of of the Lionesses for your blog if you would like.

Btw – I found out about Dra. Miriam, thanks to your blogs!

    Saludos!

    Emilio
