Make this a Koki Day!

Koki and I enjoyed our walk this morning. She is really a great little dog, but more than being a great dog, she teaches me to enjoy each day to its fullest.

If she sees me reach for the leash, she is so excited and ready to go. When she lost her hearing, I could tell that an immediate depression set upon her. She must have known that her world had changed, but she wasn’t equipped to understand it.

However, she adjusted quicker than I think I would have adjusted in the same situation. It is as though she knew that life is to be enjoyed and not to be spent regretting something that has been lost. There is not a moment goes by but what she is doing her best to provide happiness to others.

Now why can’t humans be more like that? She will come up when I am watching TV and lay her head on my lap and look up at me with her beautiful eyes. It is though she is saying, “I am here and I love you”.

Her love is not conditional love. It is freely given and all she wants is a kind word, even though she can no longer hear that kind word. A pat on the head assures her that I love her too.

But beyond that, she senses if I am down or feeling sick. In those times, she will never leave my side. It is as if she wants me to know she is watching and if she needs to get someone to help, she will.

Giving. I think that is the word that comes to mind for Koki. Always giving and never taking.

Next week is the day of Thanksgiving in the U.S. It is one of those special days when family gets together, pictures are taken, new memories are made and old memories are remembered.

Koki helps me to understand that everyday is a great day to create a new memory. You don’t have to wait for one day a year to give thanks. Don’t wait till next Thursday. Start today. Call those you love and tell them they are in your thoughts.

Life is too short to waste a minute. Make this a Koki Day and pass out smiles to everyone you meet.

Making memories with Koki.

Choco Mix

Yesterday afternoon I visited the Regional Hospital, and my pick me up after these visits is to stop into Gelato Pacifico at the Chiriquí Mall Food Court.

Yesterday, I was greeted with two new flavors. One was Rum Raisin, which I really like and thought I would get it when i saw it was available.

The other was called Choco Mix. The lady behind the counter told me it was one I would really enjoy. What a decision to make. One of my all time favorites or an unknown Choco Mix.

Well the lady was so convincing, that I took Choco Mix. It was absolutely fabulous. If you are coming into David for any kind of business, you have to try out the best ice cream in Chiriquí. It will make your drive back to where ever you are going so much more pleasurable.

Tell David, the owner, I sent you and to keep up the great work.
