Mar Caspio Cafe

Closed !!!!! Reopened and new Post HERE.

The other day, I ate at the new Mar Caspio Café, in David, not once but twice. A friend and I tried it out for lunch and then joined another friend for dinner.

The restaurant is located on Via Boquete and a Google map can be found HERE.

Watch for the following sign.

Here is a photo of the outside of the restaurant. It has a large parking area and an area for outside seating.

The inside is nicely done and the bathrooms remind me of country club bathrooms.

While we were looking over the menu, Maryam Pishad, who had sent me an invitation to visit the restaurant, joined us for a couple minutes to get our impressions of the restaurant.

Following is the menu (Click to enlarge):

We were presented with a bowl of Minestrone soup and focaccia bread. Both were good.

I ordered number 6 under Carnes (Kabab Torsch) and the other party ordered number 4 under Carnes (Milanesa de Res a la Parmesana). Both are shown below.

At most new restaurants, I try to order a dessert. I know it is tough to do, but I like to take food photos. I had the brownie with ice cream and the other party’s choice had strawberries.

As I mentioned, we returned in the evening, but I didn’t take photos. I will mention that I ordered the Chicken pizza. I enjoyed it.

I noticed that they had a sign that mentioned an Executive lunch for $5.50.

OK. Now for a couple observations. I think this restaurant can be a great addition to David. When I am invited to a restaurant, I am never comfortable that I get the same service and food that is received by a walk-in client. Therefore, I always suggest that those that eat there following me leave comments that reflect their opinions.

The one negative comment the three of us had in our evening meal was that we would have preferred music in the background and the TV turned off. If you want a nice dinner, a TV is just noise and a distraction.

I am sure that a great deal of expense has gone into building and setting up this restaurant. I am happy to let everyone know where it is. It is up to you to leave comments that will help the owners to judge how they are doing and to make any adjustments that might be appropriate.

  1. Yesterday I visited the Mar Caspio Cafe with my wife and a friend for lunch. We were greeted and served the complimentary (and tasty) minestrone soup with a slice of bread. My wife loved the Greek salad and our friend enjoyed the veggie pizza. I ordered the pinchos de res kebabs and the meat on them was amazingly tender. Overall, the meal was excellent and the service was outstanding. The restaurant is well appointed and the girls commented that the bathrooms were incredible. I’m looking forward to returning for dinner!

  2. You asked for comments, Don, so here are mine:
My woman’s group chose Mar Caspio for our monthly luncheon. Boy, were we disappointed. There was no real menu ejectivo and there were only 3 choices for lunch for which they just discounted the price and gave us small portions. The soup arrived luke warm, but tasty. The main course arrived cold and was just not important. We watched as a couple arrived, sat down and then walked out. The place was pretty empty.

  3. First visit was fine, as per your original review. Second visit very disapointing akin to above comment by Joyce.

  4. By any chance would you know the owner or someone that might know the owner of this restaurant?

  5. I have an email. If you want to contact them, you can send me an email and I will forward it to them. Their responding would be up to them.

  6. The thing is that they are closed right now and I don’t know if they might be renting the building or not. I’m interested in the building thats why I want to contact them.
