I appreciate the work that you’re doing on your site. I’ve been living in Panama for a few years now and have gotten a lot of value from your writing, especially when I need info on Chiriqui.
One of the problems that I’ve had as an investor is easy access to regional news related to real estate, tourism, and investment. The articles that I could find were mostly in Spanish and I had to spend a ton of time sifting through them to get to the handful that were relevant.
To solve this problem, I started a new website called Emerging Terrains News. I’ve hired some translators to sift through all of the newspapers in Central America and send me the relevant articles. We then post summaries in English, along with a machine translation.
We use it as a resource to stay current on investment news and invite you to do the same. Even though we really like Panama, we’re trying to stay away from a biased hype of the country. Instead, we’re trying to do honest cross-country comparisons, with current headlines as the backdrop.
Do you think this would be valuable to your readers? if so, could you mention it on your blog?
Here is the site link:
Let me know what you think.
Thanks and keep up the great work!

Potrerillos was anything but quiet this Holiday season as several attempted Burglaries occurred throughout the Township including suspicious activities and a case of animal cruelty.
On Wednesday 21 December 2011 a long time Panamanian resident returned from a day of shopping for Christmas Gifts for her family only to discover that her home was damaged in what was determined to be an attempted burglary. Information provided indicates that the perpetrators were unsuccessful in gaining access to the residence however they did unfortunately poisoned the family dog in perpetration of the crime. Additional facts gathered reviled that the victim opted not to report this incident to the Local Authorities so no follow-up Police investigation occurred.
A crime not reported is a crime that never happened.

I woke up this morning with the following email in my inbox.
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and know how much you, and all your “santa’s helpers”, meant to us this past year in helping get Mike Love back home and with his family. You, and they, will never be forgotten, in our hearts and prayers. It was so amazing to us, that total strangers would be so kind and thoughtful, proving there really are angels all year round, not just at Christmas. God bless you, your family, and all the others who helped us so much this past year.
Chris and Rick
(Mike Love’s sister and brother in law)
It reminded me that we never know where our short journey on this small planet, we call Earth, will take us. Mike Love is known to more in the David area as The Juggler.
I guess getting Mike back to reunite with his family was one of the highlights of 2011 for me. I wrote Mike’s sister after Thanksgiving and Mike had really enjoyed Thanksgiving and was looking forward to Christmas.
If Mike’s story teaches anything, it is that we have but a small amount of time and we must use our time wisely. That doesn’t mean that we should spend it all in gathering worldly goods an measuring our worth monetarily.
Gathering friends and making someone else’s journey a little more pleasant will fill your heart with more satisfaction that all the money in the world.
2011 is winding down. 2012 is just around the corner. As one year dies another is born. Likewise with people, a baby is born and an old friend dies.
As time has new beginnings it also has endings. There is no better time than today to tell those that make your days special, that you appreciate them. Today is a day to be handing out hugs and smiles to everyone.
Merry Christmas to all from Chiriqui Chatter.
“If two things don’t fit, but you believe both of them, thinking that somewhere, hidden, there must be a third thing that connects them, that’s credulity.”
