Giving Your Fellow Man A Leg Up

Tom McCormack sent me some photos of a real success story with a leg prosthesis that he brought on this trip. I think Tom brought several. Tom said this was a perfect fit.

The following photos are the property of Tom McCormack.

Here is the happy recipient of a new right leg, courtesy of Tom McCormack and his foundation.

Here is a second photo taken with Tom.

Tom said he told the gentleman that they had two options. They could paint the prosthesis to match his other leg or they could paint his other leg to match the prosthesis. Tom said they both had a big laugh.

As I understand it, this gentleman had tried to work with the government of Panama to do the same thing and had been unsuccessful. You can’t imagine how liberated he must feel.

Way to go Tom. You have given new meaning to giving a friend a leg up.

  2. This is the best thing that could happen to people that are in need, and to
also thank all the participants that make it happen. My question is I know a
very poor person in our neighborhood that has a old fashion prosthetic leg
that is more than 20yrs old, and it uses metal inserts that make the leg move
and has to be oiled quite frequently so it will not make noise. Is there a
program that would help him, he is around 30 something and a very nice
person, does not work , and does odds and ends to make a little money.
Any information would be helpful, thanks so much.
