Royal Caribbean Cruise April 24, 2011 Part Seven – Tenerife

Our third port and the first after spending six days in the Atlantic was Tenerife. It is the largest of the Canary Islands.

Since we were going to spend two days in Palma De Mallorca, we decided just to take a walking excursion around a part of the city to get an idea of what it was like.

This is the first photo I took in Tenerife. Do you notice anything unusual about it?

They are working on the building in the center of the photo. Sort of has a Ghost Busters appearance doesn’t it? I saw several buildings similar to this in Spain. They have covered the entire building with a webbing to prevent falling construction materials from falling on nearby pedestrians. From a distance it really had an eery appearance.

Here is a small sample of other photos I took as we walked around. The city was clean, well maintained and with plenty of police security to make you not worry where you were.

I took this shot from the ship shortly before we set sale.

As we were pulling out of the harbor, I took this photo of this housing development.

And with the following photo we say goodbye to Tenerife. I am sure there was morte to see than we we saw on our two hour walk. I think we were conserving our energy for or next stop.

The next post will be of Palma de Malloraca, Spain. It was the final destination of the cruise.

  1. You missed the most beautiful part of Tenerife. On the other side of the island there are many very interesting OLD towns. There is also a bird zoo that also has a fantastic marine show with a great dolphin show.
