Da-Li Restaurant

A new restaurant has opened up in David called Da-Li. I met the owner Steve who had an interesting accent. I asked where he was from and he said Ireland. I ask how he happened to choose Panama and he said he got on the wrong plane. Well, it was funny to me. Maybe you had to be there.

Anyway, he specializes in coffee, sandwiches, salads, desserts, and other items. It is a friendly place and happily decorated. It is on the road going to the airport, just a couple blocks past the police compound and on the same side of the street. It is across from the building marked Super Replicas.

Here is a flier that I picked up at the airport.

Here is some of the art work that is for sale. Steve said it was from a Colombian artist.

The seating is in a pretty patio that is friendly. As you can tell from the laptop in the table, wifi is available. Steve also hosts events and dancing classes in Tango, Salsa and belly dancing. If anyone goes to the belly dancing classes take photos. I may have to go for that. 🙂

These two charming young ladies will take your order and serve you. Shoot it may be worth the trip just to see these smiling faces.

I didn’t have time to sample a sandwich or frappe, but I will make it back one day. Da-Li is open Monday through Saturday from 8AM until 8PM. If you drop in, tell them you heard about them on Chiriquí Chatter.

  1. Leave it to Don Ray. He writes about a restaurant recently opened by an Irishman. No photo of the Irishman, but…..

He always brings out the smiles in his photographic subjects.

  2. Dear Don,
Thank you very much for your lovely article. We are very grateful here at Da-Li.
I would like to use this forum to give a brief idea of our vision at Da-Li.
Its an art cafe that is fun and vibrant, with no pretensions…just a pleasant place to come and relax in busy David.
We are trying to create a place for Panamanians and foreigners alike to enjoy a quiet bite or drink in a relaxing environment in central David.
Whether you are coming from Boquete or elsewhere to do your weekly shopping or other errands, we would like Da-Li to be your place of choice to rest up after your day, or maybe a place to have a nice coffee to prepare you for your day that awaits.
Located on the Via Aeropuerto (airport road) we are easy to find, and have lots of parking available, as well as wifi, and many other surprises.
    Hope to see you soon!!
    Thanks again Don!

  3. Either I’m losing my eyesight, my mind, or reading too fast. The words in the post above said “quiet bite or drink” and what I saw was “quite a bit of drink”.

    I’m on my way over!
