COCHABAMA Mexican Restaurant

I had noticed that a new Mexican restaurant was opening up. It is on the street behind Super99. Yesterday, I tried it out.

It was 1 PM when we arrived at the restaurant. The waitress came and told us about the comida del dia. I asked to see a menu. She said that if you wanted Mexican food, it would not be available until after 3PM. She did say that they could fix tacos if I wanted them.

She did bring a menu then so I could see what was offered if you came later. No photos as I only had my cell phone. However, the menu had steaks, burritos, enchilada, taco plates and margaritas for $2.75.

The Mexican food plates were all around $6.00. Two of us ordered a taco plate and one ordered a hamburger.

The restaurant is an open air, no AC, restaurant that does have a Mexican flair in its decoration. Continue reading COCHABAMA Mexican Restaurant

A.C.T. Now! (Assistance for Comarca Teachers Now!)

I just received the following email for support for some of the indigenous in Panama. Sounds like a worthwhile project and I am in for $100. However, I will just give it as a donation, because I have gotten rid of all my ties. 🙂

We know that there are several opportunities to contribute to the people of the country that we all have adopted but we have a special need for you to consider. The indigenous in Panama live in various areas in this country referred to as the comarca. They are often out of site and living in conditions that are hard to imagine unless you have visited. There is one specific area named Alto Guayabal that a group of Gringos and Panamanians together have not only visited but are working to help. Continue reading A.C.T. Now! Testimony for Mana Assistance Services

I received the following email related to MAS and felt I should post it.

Hi Don, My husband and I used Mana Assistance Services after reading about it on your website.  All of our experiences with Jorge of MAS were excellent.  He is honest, fairly priced, and punctual.  He has the right temperament for the job as well.  We hired Jorge to deal with a variety of issues related to living in Panama: getting our truck legal, canceling a utility service, help with jumping through the hoops to take our dog out of the country (saving us substantial money).  We highly recommend Jorge for assistance in anything related to living/visiting Panama.  If he does not have the answer, he tell you & then go find out the answer.  A word to the wise-it is best to hire Jorge from the beginning (or pre) of any issue…you will save money and heartburn in the long run (although he can come in after the fact as well).  You can’t go wrong with Jorge.
