The other day I had to go to my dentist. My tongue had discovered that I had chipped a porcelain filling from the states and I needed some work done. I also am in need of another deep cleaning.
Dra. Miriam told me that while she always enjoyed seeing me, the cleanings would not be quite as necessary if I would quit buying the Super Floss and start using what I have already bought.
I get her point and she is right. I just keep losing the manual for the super floss and it winds up staying in the box. She has told me I don’t need to floss all my teeth – only those I want to keep. OK, I will try to do better. I will see her next week to finish my procedures.
Back to my original post. After I left her office, I stopped next door at Cafe Corta’o a new coffee shop in Plaza Mallorca..

Here is the menu for the shop.

As you can see they have sandwiches, several things to drink and often some very taste pastries. I had been meaning to take photo of Cafe Carta’o for some time and finally got around to it.
Here is a photo of two of the cute little ladies that will provide something yummy for your tummy.

Plaza Mallorca is on the one way street known as calle rapida. It is on the left a block past UDI and the traffic light.
If you stop in, tell them that you read about them in Chiriquí Chatter.
Don Ray, ask Dra. Miriam about using this:

I hate dentists! So, I go 3 times a year to avoid surprises and my dentist had me using a water pik for over 20 years now with great results. Walk-in-the-park exams and cleanings are the results for me and way easier than flossing.

Hi J&N. Actually I cam to Panama with a good dental system similiar to Waterpic and an unnamed person through it out. I have considered buying another, but getting it to Panama is a pain.
Just trying to catch up on your posts after visiting my daughter in Mexico for a month and then having house guests for a month. Like you, I hate dental visits. Have a wonderful dentist but thanks to too much tea, coffee and smoking (Yeah, I need to give it up) my teeth are stained, even though I go every four months for a cleaning. Still my teeth are sensitive, what can I say, it’s still a nightmare, but it is getting better. I started using baking soda, just dip my toothbrush with toothpaste (for sensitive teeth) in the soda and brush. My other two “aids to oral health” are a Sonicare toothbrush and waterpik. I was proactive since I figured my old Sonicare was about to give out on me and ordered a new one — wouldn’t you know it, when I went to Mexico, two days later my old Sonicare toothbrush gave up the ghost — had to buy a manual toothbrush which I hated. I was so happy to break out my new Sonicare when I returned home!!
FYI I ordered my new Sonicare (basic model, no new and improved features like automatic toothpaste dispenser) and a WaterPik from Drugstore.com. Prices are good and even if you have to “suck up” the shipping and customs charges, sometimes it is worth it just to have easier tooth cleanings. Yesterday my cleaning lasted 30 minutes of torture rather than the previous one hour — and no more gum pockets.
Good Luck with your next dental visit. I can now relax for four months!!
Marion
