Restaurante Don Pepe Revisited

Today was Wednesday and I had been told that Wednesday was ropa vieja day at Don Pepe. Well, it wasn’t, but they had something similar and maybe better. I forget the Panamanian name, but I will tell you what it reminded me of (Flank steak).

I asked how it was prepared and it had been marinated over night and then cooked over Nance coals which gave it a great flavor. The sauce that you see in the photo was a barbecue flavor. The beans in the pink bowl were very good also and had a unique flavor.

I really enjoyed it.

Two of us ate a plate as you see in the photo and we took one to go.

My bill was a mere $5.40 for three meals. It is almost cheaper to eat out than to cook. It just doesn’t get any better than this.
