Do You Like Ice Cream?

I really like ice cream, but I always know that I am going to have to pay for it with both money and an enlarged waist size. Well, a new flavor of ice cream has just emerged from the US House Of Representatives in the form of a new health care bill that will not increase taxes or enlarge the deficit according to it proponents.

You don’t see the correlation between ice cream and the new health care bill. You will with the following story I received today. Enjoy!

THE COW AND THE ICE CREAM
ONE OF THE BEST EXPLANATIONS
OF WHY OBAMA WON THE ELECTION
From a teacher in the Nashville area

“We are worried about ‘the cow’ when it is all about the ‘Ice Cream.’

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year…

The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.

I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.

We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.

We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids..

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.

I had never seen Olivia’s mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.

Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best.

Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia’s turn to speak.

Her speech was concise.

She said, “If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.”

She sat down.

The class went wild. “Yes! Yes!

We want ice cream.”

She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed.. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?
She wasn’t sure.

Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.
She didn’t know.

The class really didn’t care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.

They want ice cream.

The other 48 percent know they’re going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.”

This is the ice cream Obama promised us!

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone that they have not first taken away from someone else.

  1. The story seems to be right on the “money” which is not only a sad reflection of the American electorate, but also one of the biggest reasons that I’m happy to be living here in Panama. We American consumers just learned a very painful lesson about the eventual (yet certain) price of debt. Unfortuantely, it appears the US government wasn’t paying attention. My fellow Americans…start practicing your Chinese.

  2. Many people may find comments “offensive” but my husband is a retired State Policeman and started on a salary of $3800.00 per year. His benefits are reflected in the only thing we have had to secure our insurance on healthcare and we have received notice from the State Police that, since the State Police, firefighters, and many others got “Cadillac” insurance, it will be taxed at 40% and our retirement benefits will be cut on healthcare in order for the State Police to make up this “tax”. Also, our health insurance may be lost if this bill passes for “Government Control” of the system. “Public Option” ? Pelosi changed the words to “Consumer Option” It is still the same garbage. They must be on the healthcare sytem that they are pushing down our throats. Where is that conversation??????

  3. OUTSTANDING STORY, AND, SADLY, ALTOGETHER TOO TRUE AND TO THE POINT…TO DAN’S POST, 我們擁有您!! , WHICH TRANSLATED, FROM BABEL FISH IN TRADITIONAL CHINESE, MEANS:” WE OWN YOU”..SCARY SINCE I PERSONALLY AM STILL SEVERAL YEARS FROM RETIREMENT…

  4. IMHO the DEMS are going to have a very difficult time coming together to pass the health reform bill. It will take the nuclear option to pass it and when this happens, millions of seniors will march on Washington to kick these radical real left bastards to the curb (maybe a number of GOP assholes should be kicked to the curb as well). I see a third party forming to reclaim our constitution. OMG this is so scary, I just can’t believe it is happening so quickly. Martial law could be a real probability.

  5. Whoa, Don Ray. My family was in the late, lamented GOP since the 1850’s. I had a lot of respect for Barry Goldwater and even for Nixon, but, beginning with the demented one in the 80’s, the radical wing took over so badly that I’ve become a dedicated independent. Let us not forget that the regime of the early part of this decade was involved in getting us in this mess and that the conservatives are the ones who spent us into such debt that we’ll never recover. Sorry for the rhetoric, but a little balance seems in order.

  6. Whoa right back, Frank…

I don’t think anyone here is talking about the great strides Bush, and his spend-happy friends in Congress, made in the past. IT’S NOT ABOUT REPUBLICANS OR DEMOCRATS, BUSH OR OBAMA! I think we’re all talking about MONEY, debt, and a government that took what was a big amount of cash (one BILLION dollars) and turned it into chump change without batting an eye. No one even has a clue what a TRILLION dollars looks like, let alone how much it will ever cost to repay. Keep smiling, Nancy Pelosi.

  7. By the way, the most important part of the original article is the last line…
