La Crepe in Boquete

Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to be in Boquete at lunchtime. I have had several people tell me that they really enjoyed La Crepe on the road toward Cafe Ruis. Yesterday was the day I got to try it.

The inside is bright and friendly, with a French flair.

There were so many thing to try, I couldn’t decide. That being the case, I went for the special of the day, which included a glass of wine.

The bread that came out before the meal was excellent.

One person ordered a strawberry fruit drink. I tried it. Super!

My meal started off with a pureed vegetable soup. Yummy!

It was followed by my brochette. The sauteed vegetables were perfect and the mashed potatoes were too.

Another at out table ordered a ground beef crepe. The crepes are huge! This one was only half eaten and the rest came home with us. I had it for dinner. Wonderful!

The last in our party had a salmon crepe and raved about it. She had recently returned from Switzerland and said it was as good as the best she had in her visit to Paris.

My meal finished with the house flan and it, like everything else, was great. Flan is a simple dessert, but all restaurants flans are not the same.

What a pleasant surprise to find a quality french restaurant in Boquete.

The special was $12.00 and I thought it was worth the money. The crepes were amazingly priced at $6/7 and for the size, I considered them a bargain.

There are many more visits that will be required to try other items on the menu.

Next to the restaurant is a nice shop with paintings and other things. If you stop in, tell them you learned about them on Chiriquí Chatter.

Excellent food! Do you think the restaurant owners give you special treatment and twig a little their food to make it better because they know you will “review” their place?
Also, how many gringos do you estimate are living now in Chiriqui?

I don’t think that is the case at all. Did you not say yourself, Jaime, the food is “excellent”??

I was actually there last night also…and my food was exceptional! I come to Boquete about 3 times a year, and always eat here. I have never had a bad experience. The service is great, the food is fresh…and you can see inside the clean kitchen if you wanted to watch your meal being prepared. I myself was also in Paris this time last year, and the crepes at this restaurant are the same or even better than I experienced in France.

Great place to eat!! I recommend it to everyone! 🙂

  3. Jaime, No. I only told them I would write them up after I ate. From all I hear, it is good all the time.

WT – thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.

  4. Well Don, you found another of our favorites in Boquete. We have eaten there several times and have always had a great meal. Their Italian salad (easily split between 2) is also excellent. Oh and their banana splits are mmmmmm good.

  5. I will definitely try a banana split on my next trip!! I could use one right now! 😀

  6. Don,
We decided to try La Crepe the other day on the basis of your review and the comments. It more than lived up to our expectations.

We were both impressed by the salad. It was probably the best that either of us has tasted in Panama … and I’d be willing to say it equals the salads in France (at least from 40 years ago).

The Sunday brunch menu looks great. We’ll no doubt return there to try it.

Let’s hope it can survive this economic climate.

    Mary
