Saturday, while I was taking photos inside of Passarela, I met Hubi. He came in with two covered cake containers with goodies that he and his wife Marggie make. You can mistake Hubi and his German accent for being Panamanian.
I was surprised. I thought I knew every place in David that prepared dulces such as these. Wrong. I had not heard of La Hacienda del Sabor.
The following photo is of two types of quiche. I took one of each. I had them for supper on Saturday night and they were as good as I have ever had. Being from Germany, Hubi know how to make good quiche and pastries.
Here are several of the desserts that Hubi had brought with him.
I took the one at 3:00 o’clock. It was outstanding. It had pears in it.

I saw AS (Antie Sunshine – a Chiriquí Chatter reader) in Passarela, and she was the one that alerted me to Hubi’s goodies. She also took some and I am sure she will leave a comment.

Hubi’s website has a map and other information. It is in Spanish, so it may be another incentive for my English readers to learn a little Spanish.
Hubi said that they are open in the evening, but the rainy season has been causing fewer people to come. You might want to call ahead to verify that they are open. If you see Marggie and Hubi, tell them you learned about them on Chiriquí Chatter.
UPDATE: I received the following information from Hubi, which clarifies their current operation. If you have enough to justify Hubi being open and call ahead, he will tell you if he can or can’t oblige you. None the less, I am sure he can always provide carry out for quiche and cakes, etc. Give him a call. He has plans for a future place more central to David, which will be operative year around.

Firstly, Thank you for all,you are doing for us! Our ” Hacienda del Sabor ” isn’t a restaurant.
We’ve got a double Garage changed into an attractive selling place’
In summer-time, every day from 5.00PM until 11.00PM, we had 20 up till 45 completely satisfied persons, who could try Our Hamburgers, for example Big Marggie( double ) for only 2.00 Dollars.
We always were told, those would be the best of all over David,for it’s quality,imagine.
About our our 100 % natural ” Batidos” the same was told.
Now in Rain/Wintertime, we made the experience, that nearly nobody came by, and principally
we are closed, because it isn’t worth while for the costs of all.
But, if somebody wants to try Hamburgers, Batidos, Quiches and Cakes and we’ll receive a phone-call before,
we’ll serve with heartfelt attention, unique products, (not all in the list above )
and and a special private feeling for all, concerning our garden.
