SUNDAY AT THE MOVIES

Join us this Sunday, July 5 at 1:00 PM at Hotel Fundadores in Boquete for a showing of THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT (1992) starring Terence Stamp, Guy Pearce and Hugh Weaving.  A discussion will follow the movie for those who are interested.

Donation: $2.00.

Parking in the back of the hotel

MOVIE:  THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT

SYNOPSIS: The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, is an Academy Award winning, Australian comedy/drama about three drag queens who travel across the Australian Outback from Sidney to Alice Springs in a large bus which they have named Priscilla.  While on the road trip, they meet a variety of characters and have a variety of experiences.  The film is regarded as a camp classic; and portrays Australia’s Outback in an idyllic way, showcasing its beauty and remoteness. The film was ranked #11 on Logo‘s 50 Greatest Films.   It’s fun, daring, life-affirming, over-the-top and unforgettable, a road movie with attitude.

Look for Sunday at the Movies every first Sunday of the month.  Arrive by 12:45 pm to secure a good seat.  Bring your friends.

Hi there, I am a Chiricano that just got back from Gringolandia in Michigan after 27 years of living there !!! I am looking to connect with a group of Gringos here in Chiriquí. I have but a few older relatives living here. My wife Vicky and I just opened a small restaurant and cafe in David and would love to have a group of people come and visit so we can get acquainted!!!

Saturday, I had an opportunity to go by Restaurante Maná (Bread from Heaven). Here are the directions to get there. From the Parque de las Madres, go down the street where el Kiosko Baby is. You will pass Java Juice … Keep going down the hill towards the Colegio Felix Olivares about 300 ft. On the left hand side there is a house with a yellow and green concrete fence just before a small bridge. You can’t miss it.

Here’s Looking At You – Almost

Last Friday, I went to see Dra. Inés to replace some lenses that are cracked and I expect to break any day. However, when she checked my eyes, she told me I needed to see a ophthalmologist, because my left eye looked a little strange.

She said I was in luck, because an excellent ophthalmologist visited David twice a month and happened to be here. She got on the phone and called to see if she could get me in. I had an appointment on Sunday at 9:00 AM.

The doctor I saw was Dr. Adrian Young. He has an office in Mae Lewis. He obviously is highly respected and there were many patients there for followup visits following surgery.

He took a look and then added the drops to dilate my eyes. Then I went back to the waiting area to let the drops take effect and got to practice my Spanish with others waiting in the hall. Continue reading →
