Another Way To Help

Posted by Don Ray on Nov 26 2008 at 10:34 pm

I just received the following email.

You can help the flood victims in the Boquete area now by donating money via Paypal. All you need to do is go to Paypal.com and email a donation to my Paypal email address using your credit card. I will then transfer the money to my trusted farm manager, in Panama, Tino (who many of you in the Boquete/David area know) and he will get the money to a Boquete non-profit organization to buy supplies.

They will then use the money to buy food and supplies, wholesale, for the victims. I am paying all Paypal and transfer fees so 100% of your donated money will get to the victims. As we gather here in the US to give thanks, let us help those less fortunate in Panama through this disaster.

Go to Paypal.com and send your donation to fordcloseouts @ gmail . com (without the spaces). Be sure to specify in the notes field that the donation is for Boquete flood relief.

I will add that I know Ron and his wife Kim. For people outside of Panama, this would be an easy way to provide some assistance.

I also personally know Ron and Kim and I trust them completely. Their offer is a good way to help and indicative of their benevolence.

Don Ray: Has anyone that speaks Spanish approached the stores, i.e., Rey’s Supermercado, Super 99, Romero’s for any donations and the small stores? I haven’t seen anything on comments. I feel handicapped with not speaking Spanish, but we have been able to get a few donations from friends and what we were able to give.

I, too, have known Ron and Kim for almost 10 years and will vouch for their integrity. Ron and Kim spent over 5 years extensively visiting Panama before they found their perfect location to build and they are absolutely dedicated to the Panamanian community as a whole.

    Thanks for doing this, guys!
    Mike

Hi Charlotte. I have a loyal reader that works in the El Rey/Romeros community. I am sure your comment will be read. Also the Chamber of Tourism will probably read it as well.

  6. Lilia says:

    Hi Don:
Supermercados Romero has offered all its stores so that the Club de Leones de David will be able to accept donations of food, clothing, water, etc. as well as money. As GRUPO REY, we (representatives of ROMERO) just came from the David Airport where we donated a trailer of foodstuff.
Tomorrow night we expect another trailer with more foodstuff from what our customers in Panama and Colon from the chains Rey and Mr. Precio have donated until today. This second trailer will be taken to the airport on Saturday morning.
Many thanks to all who have donated and we urge many more donations to be made since the situation is really dramatic in Bocas del Toro.

What is the relief path for Volcan / Paso Ancho area and Bocas?

  8. Don Ray says:

    Hi Lilia,

    Thanks for leaving the comment.

Hi Everett, I was at the Panama Emergency center this morning in David, where they are boxing goods to be delivered. I think at the present time it is by helicopter and I understand that DHL is making some flights.
