A Night To Remember
Oct 15th, 2008 by Don Ray
The other night, I was approached around 7:30 PM to go out and have a sangria. I said I was sure I had some red wine that I hadn’t opened, but “No” it had to be sangria.
When it is raining outside, you normally don’t go out, so I knew something was up. None-the-less, I got ready and we headed out. I asked where they wanted to go. They said Renegados had good Sangria. Still believing that something was going on, I suggested Pizza Hut because it was closer. “No” they don’t have sangria.
Continuing on, I suggested Las Brasas. I thought they had sangria. “No”, that is too far. How about Tamburelli’s ? “No”, still too far. By then we were close to Renegados and I had everyone in a complete panic that I was going to take them some where else.
We ordered some light appetizers and a pitcher of sangria. I have to admit that Renegados has the best sangria in David – bar none!
When the appetizers were finished, as if by magic, a cake appeared, accompanied by a rousing chorus of “Happy Birthday” in both English and Spanish. I acted surprised, but you have to get up pretty early to fool me like that. I appreciated all of the effort that had gone into making my day extremely special.
Since I had left my camera at home, I had to make do with my cell phone. However, before I show you the cell phone photos, let me show you the castle that Sofia had made for me that was waiting for me to see in the morning. I understand that she spent almost 2 hours building and rebuilding, until she had it perfect. She was so proud of it. It was made of of candles and the ponies were the gift I had waiting for Sofia when she arrived.

Now for the photos from Renegado. Here is Sofia wondering if we are ever going to have cake. You can see that she brought one of her ponies with her.

Here is the cake that came out. The numbers are facing Sofia because she is going to help blow out the candles. She is on the other side getting ready to blow. You don’t want to confuse a child on what numbers look like. I am always confused, so the fact that they were reversed to me, didn’t affect me. I was just happy the numbers weren’t upside down.

What a great outing. My thanks also to Berta and David for helping to make my day special. It is always nice being surrounded by people who love you.

I guess in half again the number they will be upside down
:-D. Happy Birthday Don Ray!
Thanks for being so analytic and pointing that out!
