Artwork of Cindy Murillo
Oct 14th, 2008 by Don Ray

One of the enjoyments that I have had, in Panama, is getting to know the Panamanian people and to see how talented and giving they are. This was obvious this past week with Margarita Herniquez’s winning the Latin American Idol. I watched some of the celebration in Panama City. Panama really celebrates those that bring honor to it.
That brings me to another Panamanian talent that Chiriquí Chatter has enabled me to get to know. Cindy Murillo contacted me to make me aware of her artwork. I was very impressed and asked her to send me a short email with some background on herself and I told her I would be happy to provide the information to all that read CC.
Here is her email.
Good Morning Mr. Ray,
Some information about me and my work.
My name is Cindy Murillo González, I am a self-taught artist. I was born in David, Chiriquí, where I live now. I’m 25 years old. I studied Advertising and Marketing at the Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí and I have worked in advertising, public relations and broadcasting in David and Panama City. Less than a year ago I decided to dedicate all my time and effort to my well saved passion. And this point I started to distort my reality, and dream with unreal colors and shapes to express myself through drawing, painting, textures or any other means available. Now I’m working at the representation of the traditions and roots of Panama , the lights and colors of our culture and our daily things. I use canvas, oil and acrylic paintings, textures and different sizes.
It is very difficult for me express myself in English…is difficult in Spanish too, : ) but I hope with these information if you consider it, you could write something about my work. I hope so.
Also, I’m sending the albums link, contact information and a photo of me.
For me, at this moment, the most important is to announce my work.
Thank you a lot …. And if I can help you in something let me know, please.http://picasaweb.google.es/cindy.murillo

See her photo site above to see more of her work. I have to tell you that several of her pieces really interest me. Besides the one above, here are a couple more of my favorites. I am sure you will find others you like.

Before I close this post let me introduce you to Cindy Murillo. As you will see, she is just as interesting and beautiful as the artwork she produces. Remember her name. I predict a bright future for her. Feel free to contact her for prices and other information.

Hi Don Ray:
Indeed her artwork is striking. And, she is smart to contact your widely read blog. Certainly there is nothing wrong with her English either.
Her photo is remarkably similar to the photos that you usually take. No doubt your readers will know what I mean.
Hi Tom. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Her photo is very nice. I wish I could take credit for taking it.
Hi Don Ray,
We are returning to David for a visit in February and one of the things on my list is to bring home a painting. Her work looks very interesting. We would be interested in knowing about other local talent whose work we could see while we are there as well.
Hi Susan. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Most of the artisan work you will find in Panama will be native Indian work, such as the following: http://www.chiriquichatter.net/blog/2008/09/23/niskwa-artesanias/
You might also talk to Dr. Mario Molina at Museo La Casona. He has had art exhibits there in the past, such as this one: http://www.chiriquichatter.net/blog/2007/03/05/art-exposition-at-museo-la-casona-follow-up/
Cindy! your work is great! i’ll contact you!
Don:
Do you know if this artist’s work was/is displayed at a notary’s in David? I saw some striking artwork when there (can’t remember the name) in April.
Tx
Sam
Hi Sam. No I don’t know, but I sent her an email, so hopefully she will respond via comment.
It maybe one of my paintings, but I do not know this place and cannot recall selling a painting to a notary office.
