Having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

This and That

I have been busy, but I can’t see any evidence of why. I know that this week, I haven’t posted much. Just haven’t had my heart in it. I have been continuing to eat (surprise) and do have some information that may be of interest.

Last Friday, we decided to go back to Las Brasas. The main craving, that pointed me there, was to have another slice of cheese cake. As luck would have it, they were out of cheese cake. Chino, was happy to see us and mentioned that a few people had stopped in and said hello to him.

I ordered Costillitas de cerdo ahumadas. I expected to get charcoaled ribs with a bar-b-que sauce. Since this was a spur of the moment thought to go there, I didn’t take my camera, but luckily, my cell phone was able to take a reasonable photo.

As you can see, these were not the traditional ribs I was expecting. I would describe it as a ham steak. Even though it wasn’t what I was expecting, I thought it was extremely good. The charcoal flavor was very, very good and I was not disappointed. Continue reading This and That

Just one person saying to me, ‘You’ve made my day!’ makes my day.

Updated Request for help

Here is an updated request for help and a status of help related to this post.

Don,

Could you post something for us on Chiriqui Chatter? I think this will
also answer the question in the comment below. Here is what I would like
to post:

Monday, September 14th, we delivered over 4,000 pounds of food and a
variety of clothing, medicine and other items to Soloy in the comarca
(including 360 yards of fabric for making dresses). The situation in the
area is still difficult. Around 1,000 people are homeless and many of the
bridges that connect the communities upriver were destroyed. We spent the
past four days in Soloy helping Sinaproc and coordinating relief delivery
by helicopter into the isolated communities.

We, Boquete Outdoor Adventures, have decided to stay involved in the long
term recovery of this area. If you are interested in helping and knowing
more about what happened, please go to this page of our website:

http://boqueteoutdooradventures.com/soloy

We will continue to accept supplies (see the link for what is needed) in
our office in Boquete of as well as monetary donations. All funds should
be donated directly to the Rotary Club of Boquete with 100% of the funds
being used on this project. Simply designate that the funds are for “Soloy
relief”. Please don’t hesistate to email me if you have questions.

Sincerely,

John Miller

Thanks Don if you can post this for us.

Hi Don,

I have been reading your blog regularly for about three years. It really is a great way to keep in touch with Panama when away. I know you are not in the Real Estate Business, but if you could post this to your Blog it would be wonderful.

Beach house for rent – Playa La Barqueta

I am looking for a long term renter for my beach house in Playa Barqueta.

The house is right on La Barqueta Beach in the Las Olas resort and is a cozy new 2400 sq. ft. fully furnished home on a 1/4-acre titled lot with 60 feet of beach frontage and unobstructed ocean views. The foyer boasts beautiful hand crafted built-in cabinets and leads up into the diagonal kitchen area, the core of the home. Bright and airy due to the very high ceilings with windows all around, the kitchen features an island, granite countertops, lots of cupboards, name-brand appliances, dining room nook and large pantry. The kitchen overlooks the living/TV room with custom-made built-in entertainment center, opening onto a screened in porch and open patio. Cathedral wood-beamed ceilings grace the master bedroom with an oceanfront terrace, large walk-in closet, bathroom with separate shower and storage shelves. There is a good-sized 2nd bedroom, separate bath, storage and laundry room. On the beach side is a plunge pool measuring 10’ x 7’, and has seats with water jets like a Jacuzzi.

It is in move-in condition with all furniture, appliances, pots, pans, dishes, linines, etc…

You can find detailed pictures at this link.

A New Panama Blog

I noticed a new referrer today and it is from a blog that I had not seen before. It is Elaine’s Panama Adventure. Drop in and say “hello” to Elaine.

It was opportune, because her current post contained a review of her visit to Dental Esthetic in David. I had just received a comment from Dra. Miriam Rodriguez telling me about a special that Dental Esthetic is currently having.

You can see Dra. Miriam’s comment on this post and a English translation was provided by Auntie Sunshine. Thank you AS.

I will include Dra. Miriam’s comment and AS’s translation below:

HOLA DON RAY,

“Hello Don Ray, your family and all CC bloggers. Given the demand on frontal teeth composite change, there is a bonus in October:just pay 1 for 2. If the composite is older, has undergone color changes, or have plaque underneath, the client will know it by feeling certain discomfort to sweet or cold, provided there are two surfaces that involve these changes in the whole teeth jacket. Love to all. Any doubt, please e-mail me and I´ll try to answer as soon as possible.”
