Las Brasas Is Open

Looking in the direction of the Coca Cola plant.

Actually, Las Brasas has been open for a while, but I just got the opportunity to go by and try it out.

While my neighbor is basking in the sun in England (I really think he is enduring damp and dreary weather), I took an opportunity to take his family out so see if the hamburgers were as good as I remembered them at Las Brasas.

Las Brasas was closed for several months while it under went a major remodeling. I must say that all the work that went into it was well done. It is much nicer than it was, but it retained its casual atmosphere. I guess I would say that it has a rustic Chinese flair to it. Continue reading →

Another PC Store To Remember in David

I was looking to find a USB Bluetooth adapter to try on my Linux system. I found the best price yesterday at Acer Computer which is in the road that runs by the side of the Mitsubishi dealer.

It is always good to have several options and it is wise to know what reasonable prices are. My price ($16.99) was more than if I ordered from YOYTEC, but I didn’t have to pay to have it delivered either and got it in one day.

They have a pretty good selection on computer assessories.

Stella Awards

I received the following in an email and it was too good not to post. I haven’t verified that it is entirely true, but as a people, we are becoming so stupid, that I will assume it is.

Obviously all Republican voters!

It’s time again for the annual ‘Stella Awards’! For those unfamiliar with these awards, they are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued the McDonald’s in New Mexico where she purchased the coffee. You remember, she took the lid off the coffee and put it between her knees while she was driving. Who would ever think one could get burned doing that, right?

These are awards for the most outlandish lawsuits and verdicts in the U.S. You know, the kinds of cases that make you scratch your head. So keep your head scratcher handy.

Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The store owners were understandably surprised by the verdict, considering the running toddler was her own son. Continue reading →

Just A Little Trim Please

Today was my day to go get a haircut. It has been a couple years since I took Yanie’s last photo, so I had her pose following, my haircut. She always charges me $2.00. What a bargain. I was paying $10 back in Texas and my barber in Texas was not near as good looking. :)

UPDATE: I should update this post, since I always reference it for directions. Yanni’s price for haircuts is now $3.00. Still a bargain anyway you look at ti.
