Dengue Season

I was talking to a doctor the other day and I asked if the Dengue season was here. She said that Dengue will be a greater danger from now until December. She warned that a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening are the worst time of the day. There is less risk when it is bright and the sun is out.

It is a good time to pick up a couple cans of “OFF”. My photo on the left is an old photo, of the Dengue risk indicator, at the Parque de las Madres. I need to get a current photo to see where they have the indicator set.

UPDATE: I looked this morning and the indicator is in the “Medio” range.

  1. Hello Don Ray:

Yes, this is the dengue season and none of us can say we have been/are far from a mosquito. Your advice is appreciated. This is also a flu season, and let me tell you it is hitting hard. The Social Security is giving the flu shot Vaxigrip, made by Sanofi-Pasteur in January 2008, for the Southern Hemisphere. As you know, it depends on the strain, and there will never be a vaccine for a flu pandemia, they call this the Pre-Pandemia shot. Those below 10 and above 60 years old, with or without Social Security, get it free. (provided you are not allergic to eggs proteins). The other day I found out that the Mae Lewis drugstore had Vaxigrip.
I would highly recommend everyone to ask their doctors because , as the Spanish saying goes “Es mejor prevenir que curar”.
    Regards,
