Hmmm. I was just wondering after reading the latest research from Texas A&M. An excerpt of an article in HEALTH.infoNIAC.com follows:
Scientists discovered that watermelon has an effect similar to well-known drug Viagra. The positive effect is attributed to an ingredient citrulline found in watermelons.
Just like Viagra, citruline in watermelon activates the production of a compound that helps to relax blood vessels. The compound, found in the flesh and the rind of the juicy fruit turns into arginine when it reacts with enzymes of the body. Arginine is a natural amino acid that reduces risk of heart disease, decreases blood pressure, and improves circulatory and immune function.

Seriously, forgot all that stuff about enzymes etc. watermelon is absolutely full of things good for you. Seems strange because it appears to be almost nothing but, well, water. Alas, it has become very expensive in the USA. When I was a kid (you remember those days, Don Ray?), I think you could buy an entire watermelon for 50 cents.
Hi Tom. Yes, My dad always wanted Black Diamond watermelons. They were great. Watermelon here is about a dollar.
