I received the following email from Hal at the Bookmark. I am printing it with his permission. You never know what the utility companies are going to do from one month to the next.
My telephone service on the Book Mark line 776-1688, was restricted last Thursday and I was unable to call out on my telephone. As I pay my utilities on line for this very reason, I took a printout of my current receipt, and the list of payments for the first six months of 2008. Not known for my mild temper, I took a taxi up the Boquete office because I usually blow up with the clerks in David. Well, they finally threw me out bodily, when I found out that I owed them $1.17 on my CURRENT bill. I had paid only 25 dollars instead of the 26.17 due because my bill had not arrived by the 10th, when I pay bills, and so I miscalculated amount due. But my service was actually cut for this, and I responded in an equally ridiculous manner. I will say, though, the security guard was extremely nervous when I told him in no uncertain terms to take his hands off me. Could Alan Greenspan and Dick Cheney be behind this too? I have to go to the water company, at least three times a year. because they have charged incorrectly. It is always smart to double check all bills for accuracy.
Hi Don, why am I not surprised this happened in Panama?
I wouldn’t be surprised if this happened in the US. I have an issue at least one a month with my various utility, internet, etc bill in the US. I have two different Internet services as usually only one is working at any given time.
