OpenSUSE 11.0 Released Today
Jun 19th, 2008 by Don Ray
Well, in the Linux world, today is a big day. One of the better known Linux distributions (openSUSE) has released it latest version. I have been using the pre-release version of openSUSE 11.0 on my backup PC for over a week. I am currently downloading both the 64-bit and the 32-bit version DVDs.
I have been very pleased with the pre-release system that I have been running and look forward to getting it moved to my primary PC. I am going to install the 64-bit version on my primary PC and the 32-bit version on my backup PC.
Life is good.
UPDATE: My clean installation of openSUSE has not gone as smoothly as I had hoped. I am nowhere close to saying my backup PC is production ready. I am up and running. There are several fixes that will be required.
I also have to figure out how to move the address book and calendar (for both Kontact and Evolution) from my old KDE to KDE 4.0. This may take me a while. I am glad I do have a test environment.
