We Buy Iron, Aluminum, Bronze and Copper
Jun 15th, 2008 by Don Ray

I had seen this sign on the InterAmerican highway a week or so ago. I finally got around to taking a photo. One of the thefts that happen to vacant houses is that all the wiring disappears. Where there is a market, there will be a source to fill it.
I am not saying that this business buys stolen metal. I assume it doesn’t, but, if metal gets stolen, it has to get sold somewhere.

My neighbor has been out of phone service for about two weeks because someone stole the telephone line. C&W is waiting on receiving new wire.
Hi John. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I wonder if these types of businesses are required to get the cedula of the person that is selling.
I think they also steal signs and frame made out of iron. I have seen alot of pickups Loaded with scrap metal. These signs cost $ 100 to replace. It’s ridiculous!!!
Hi Hellmut. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
It seems like at least once a week in the paper there’s news of a theft reported. Vacant buildings and homes for sale are particular targets. My sister-in-law’s family had a little house for sale that someone broke into and stole all the copper. The insurance wouldn’t cover it because the home was unoccupied. In Illinois, the scrap yards and recyclers are supposed to make a copy of the photo I.D. of the person unloading the stuff. I don’t know if actually they do, because I rarely hear of anyone getting caught.
Hi Marie. It appears that the problem is world wide!
