Chinatown To Be Shown In David
Jun 7th, 2008 by Don Ray
I was sent a request to post the following information.
“El sábado 14 de junio voy a estrenar la película Chinatown (1974) en Salón La Ballesta en OTEIMA, David centro, a las 4 p.m. Estoy alquilando el salón y Culturama me va a prestar el equipo. Pediré un donativo de $1 para ayudar a cubrir el costo. Voy a dar una introducción en español e inglés. Quiero ver si hay suficientes personas interesadas en formar un club de cine, para ver y analizar películas. La película se estrenará en inglés con subtítulos en español.
On Saturday, 14 June, I’ll be showing the movie Chinatown (1974) in Salon La Ballesta at OTEIMA, in downtown David, at 4 pm. I’m paying to rent the air-conditioned room and Culturama is lending me the equipment. I’ll be asking for a donation of $1 per head to help cover the cost. I’ll be giving an intro in Spanish and English. I want to see whether there are enough people interested in forming a film club to watch and discuss movies regularly. The movie will be in English with Spanish subs.

Yes! I would be interested. What a great idea. Any chance the films could be shown a little earlier in the day? I live 1-1/2 hr from David and would rather not drive back after dark.
Hello Peter
Yes, I´m interested. I´m a Canadian movie junky living in David, experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms from the lack of decent English language films. Unfortunately, I will be away for a week starting June 14. But other than that I am keen on a film club (as long as there aren´t too many old black and white films from the 40s and 50s, which my girlfriend loves but I hate.

Hi, Suze and Allen. Your points have been duly noted.
My email address is peter6550@yahoo.com and my phone number is 774-2535. Feel free to contact me.
I’ll ask for the personal details of whoever turns up on Saturday (I’m not expecting many people, to be honest) and then send an email to everyone. I think the best thing would be to convene a meeting somewhere (I live in a small apartment) and decide how best to proceed.
I have a large collection of DVDs and am sure others have films too. My personal preference is for non-commercial films. I’m English so I have a lot of non-American stuff.
I have a few other people already interested. I work Mon - Fri so would prefer something on the weekend.
Peter
