159th Anniversary Parade of David – Part 2
May 28th, 2008 by Don Ray
Yesterday, I ranted about the lack of preparation that had gone on with the 159th anniversary parade of David. Today, I will provide some cropped photos that remove most of the distraction from the parade and allow you to see more of the participants.
The following photo was the first group in the parade.

Here is a group with a cute little lady dressed up in her pollera.

Here is a better photo of her.

Here is another band. I didn’t take any videos.

Another group.

More polleras.

In sync.

Always have to have young ladies marching.

You have to imagine the music.

Some more schools.

More drummers.

Left – Right.

Night school?

Another school.

Nice banner.

More polleras.

Chiriquí flag.

Toward the end of the parade.

Pretty lady on one of the floats.

Boquete float. Lovely lady also.

A pretty lady on a horse.

The final float – missing the pretty lady. Bet she was on the float before the end of the parade.

That is all of the photos I decided to crop.

Were you only one, who was looking at them ?
Those small girls are adorable and at least they were enjoying.
Your photos are good, you can be glad about that.
No, there was a crowd on both sides of the street. It was not as large a parade as others and had a smaller crowd, but people were out to see it.
Many complaining about how unorganized it was.
We were in David and never knew about the parade. If I had been a little more forward, I could have found out, as we heard the marching band practising the evening before, at the fire station. But we never heard about it ,and missed it!
Thanks for the photos.
We looked for the Airbox office while we were there. Can you give us directions? The phone book lists the address as third street, which didn’t really help much!
David is a delightful town. What we wanted was a daily newspaper, so we could read local news, but we never found one.
Hi Mary. If you take Brenes street, which is the street that runs in front of Super 99, past McDonald’s, Nissan, Mitsubishi, you will find it on the left across the street from la Tipica restaurant.
Thanks! And you were right about learning your way around David in a day or two. We got fairly adept at getting around.
No hill for a climber.
