I Had To Try It
May 17th, 2008 by Don Ray
After Wendy’s review, I had to stop in Renegado’s and see what everyone is talking about.
Arroz negro isn’t something that I would typically order, but I will try anything once. Following is a photo of a standard order for two. It may be listed for two, but it fed three with one large helping left for another meal.

It gets its name from the ink of the squid that is added, giving it a dark color. David said that the ink caused the flavors to increase. I have to admit. It was extremely good. I also had a glass of white wine since David recommended it as well.
The meal was topped off with a bowl of arroz con leche. Talk about good!

After this scrumptious meal, I have to tell you that I was feeling a bit frisky. I don’t know if it was the squid ink, the white wine or the rice pudding, but I thought I should give you a warning. It is possible that you should have a recent physical before you eat any of these natural aphrodisiacs.
Thanks go out to Wendy for tempting me and to David and Berta for another great epicurean delight.

Looks very yummy!
Is “arroz negro” available everyday?
Is Renegado still closing on Mondays?
Thanks Don.

Looks yummy, Don. Meanwhile, my wife is out shopping for squid ink . . .
So you already have the Arroz con leche and white wine.
Delighted to find such dishes in a restaurant in David. I’m particularly interested in the Arroz Negro, since that’s very similar to some Sicilian dishes I’ve always wanted to try. We’ll be stopping in soon.
Thanks, Don! Y Bertha y David!
Hi Joyce. Enjoy. Tell David y Berta I said hello.
