El Rey del Helado Revisited

Posted by Don Ray on May 06 2008 at 07:31 am

While I was downtown yesterday, I stopped at the new ice cream store (El Rey del Helado).

I tried a waffle cone of Orange Pineapple. I found it to be pretty flavorless. It was probably not the best flavor to try.

I should have asked before I ordered, but the waffle cone was $1.00 and a regular cone was 50 cents.

All of the ice creams are natural ice creams. I thought it was similar to Jackelita.
To be honest, I was disappointed. I had hoped to find a real rich ice cream parlor with ice creams similar to the Italian ice cream stores in Panama City. The best I have found in Panama is Il Gelatiere. David could use one of those.

I am sure these may be a little healthier since they are more like a sherbet, but for real ice cream I will have to get my fix taken care of with a pint of Häagen-Dazs from El Rey.
