Why do the numbers on the phone go one way, but the numbers on the calculator go the other way?

In the early days of touch telephones they didn’t want keypad operators to be able to overwhelm the system by punching in the numbers too quickly. Their solution was to reverse the numbers as you have so aptly noted :-D.
A same reason caused the layout of the keyboard, so the keys wouldn’t get stuck together.
A bad boy from “texas” instruments, but born in england, decided.
In GB all is in other way…i suposse, of course :):):)
