For those of you that want to compare grocery store prices, I have added a link, in the link area, for the Riba Smith Super Market, in Panama City. This is a high end store and you will find some things in Riba Smith that you might not find in other super markets.

Hi Don,
I just returned from a 10-day visit to Chiriqui. I stepped into PriceSmart to check out the prices and brands. The brands were similar to the same offerings in a Sam’s Club, but the prices on staple foods seemed higher than that of Super99 or Rey’s. Panama City seems like a long trip just to grocery shop ;^)
I have always found the quality of fruits and vegetables to be higher than at Super99. I must admit that Super99 is not a favorite store of mine.
You have to be aware of prices at all stores in Panama. Sometimes they are better one place than another. Many things in PriceSmart are much cheaper. Some are slightly cheaper and some may be equal or higher.
Cereals, cokes, and most canned goods are cheaper. I think the meat is a high quality and better price. The snack area is cheaper and you can find some items in the frozen food area that will not be in the other stores.
Personally, for groceries, I usually shop in El Rey and PriceSmart and I buy most of my vegetables in the Saturday Farmer’s market.
