The Accidental Botanist or A Neotropical Savanna
Mar 14th, 2008 by Don Ray
I have the “A Neotropical Savanna” blog on my rss reader and I always enjoy seeing one of Mary’s posts show up. I always learn something and it is fun to learn something from a person that has a passion about their subject matter.
Reading her blog will acquaint your with many of the plants, that she encounters in her neck of the woods in Panama. It is professionally written, has lots of photos, plenty of reference links, and a tinge of humor dropped in now and then.
Don’t expect the type of blather you find in Chiriquí Chatter, but if you are living in Panama and into plants, it will be a good site to bookmark.

You’re right, Don Ray. Mary has done a fantastic job on her site.
Very well organized with plenty of links to additional information for anyone who has an interest in learning more about native flora. I think that in addition to learning about plants herself, she is doing really important work here, that allows the rest of us to come along for the ride.
Hi Gordo. Thanks for dropping in and leaving a comment.
Gosh, Don and also Gordo. Thanks!
I only recently put Chiriqui Chatter on my rss feed. Your posts are really valuable to anyone living here, so keep up the good work.
Hi Mary. Thanks for stopping in, and you are welcome.
Don, thanks for this link. I’m a plant person, and Mary’s website is a wonderful read, plus she linked to many more interesting plant places. My one frustration with the internet has been wading through the mud to get to the solid ground. I’m sure with experience it would get easier, but I always have the feeling I have no idea how to begin. This one suggestion led to some great spots for learning.
Hi Mary R. Glad to have been of help. You are always on solid ground with Chiriquí Chatter.
