For A Perfect Panama Garden
Mar 13th, 2008 by Don Ray
Wish I were the author, but the author is unknown.
Plant three rows of peas:
Peace of mind
Peace of heart
Peace of soulPlant four rows of squash:
Squash gossip
Squash indifference
Squash grumbling
Squash selfishnessPlant four rows of lettuce:
Lettuce be faithful
Lettuce be kind
Lettuce be happy
Lettuce really love one anotherNo garden should be without turnips:
Turnip for service when needed
Turnip to help one another
Turnip the music and danceWater freely with patience and
Cultivate with love.
There is much fruit in your garden
Because you reap what you sow.To conclude our garden, we must have thyme:
Thyme for fun
Thyme for rest
Thyme for ourselves

Nothing better than a bit of vegetable good humor - thanks Don Ray.
Not sure who penned this, but here goes:
ASPARAGUS:
“The Sixties, yes, the Sixties. Time of hope, time of rebellion, time for planning new ways to do things, ways that could not be any worse that what was being done at that time.
In contrast to most of the other movements of the time, one very active group combined militant vegetarianism (not so uncommon) with militant prohibitionism (very uncommon). They believed, in fact, that the first would automatically lead to perfect health. Eat only vegetables, love one another, and the desire and drive to consume Demon Rum would just pass away. They believed that: Peas would rule the planets, and love would clear the bars. It was the dawning of the age of asparagus.”
And the crowd groans…
BEANS:
Hahaha, The age of asparagus. I remember it well.
Thanks for the post. How true and would it not be nice if everyone planted this type of garden? I notice I am missing many of the seeds. Guess I had better get busy planting, eh?
We all need these gardens.
