Comments Are Important To A blog And The Blogger
Mar 9th, 2008 by Don Ray
I never know when a post is going to have an impact on someone or when it will generate a comment that has an impact on me. Now and then, I receive a comment, and I think, “I am really glad I decided to post that”.
Not long ago I did a post on the plaque, in the David Airport, with the poem “Al Volver”. I solicited aid, from a capable person, to translate the poem from Spanish to English.
My good friend Omar Upegui, in Panama City, took the challenge, did the translation, and put it on the post in the form of a comment. He did an outstanding job. It is difficult to do this type of translation and capture the passion that the original author had in the native language.
Chiriquí Chatter has passed 2,000 posts. However, there are over 7,000 comments. In the referenced post, it was Omar’s comment ( the poem translation) that made the post have an impact to the English readers. But, it was this comment that made me feel good, and made me think, “I am really glad I decided to post that”.

Simply put, Don Ray, that’s really neat.
Hi Tom. It was a neat experience for me.
Hi Don, I would just like to say thanks for your posts. My wife and I live vicariously through you(sometimes jealous
). But we appreciate the time and the work you put into your blog. All your posts have meaning. It’s in the eye of the beholder that determines what meaning they have.
Keep up the good work.
Mike
Hi Mike. Actually, I don’t consider the blog as work. It gives me something to do and I have actually found that I see more things, if I am carrying a camera.
I do sometimes feel pressure, if nothing has happened that I have felt worth posting. At my age, when you miss doing a normal activity, people start wondering if you are now pushing up daisies.
But, until I am actually pushing up daisies, I hope to keep this blog going.
Six degrees of separation . . . An amazing thing, this Web. Brings a tear to the eye.
Hello Don. Hello Leda. Hello Roberto.
Helo Fraydoh.
