Another David Medical Experience
Mar 2nd, 2008 by Don Ray
I am often asked about the medical capability in David. I thought I would pass this on, even though it isn’t an experience, I have had directly.
Yesterday, I accompanied a patient to Hospital Chiriquí to have surgery to correct a hernia. The surgeon’s name was Dr. Felix Lámbiz Garay and he offices at Hospital Chiriquí. I thought the Hospital staff was extremely professional and caring, rooms were clean, and the doctor very knowledgeable and professional.
The doctor used a laparoscopy procedure so the surgery was minimally invasive. The patient entered the hospital at 6:30 AM to check in and to take care of the paperwork. The patient was taken to the operating room around 8:30 and returned to the room about 10:00 and was able to check out and return home about 1:00 PM.
While it wasn’t my experience, I can say that, if I needed surgery and it was performed by Dr. Lámbiz, I would have no reservations about having surgery in David.

Surgery has come a long way. My first one was horrible. I mean to say the healing process was awful. I had an aortic aneurysm repaired. The second was surgery to repair a rupture in the incision of the first so it was bad too. If I have to have more I hope they are less painful.
It sounds like this man had a good experience.
Hi Abe. Thanks for dropping in.
I think recovery is always painful, but it is less so if the surgery was less invasive. I have about a 6 inch scar from a gall blader surgery in the the late 70’s. I spent a week in the hospital.
Today, the scar would be no larger than an inch and you would probably be out in a day.
