Day Three – Puerto Jimenez
Feb 22nd, 2008 by Don Ray
Lets have a good breakfast. Today, we are going to go to Puerto Jimenez and some of the surrounding areas. This is going to be a long day so this Costa Rican Tamale will get us started.

Our first stop is going to be a La Chaza del Manglar. I am going to put it in a post of its own. You can take a tour through this tourist resort by going HERE.
It is now time to have lunch. For that we are going to Agua Luna. I tried to go here last year, but it was closed. To see the restaurant, click HERE.
While I was at the restaurant, I noticed a table speaking English. I went down and introduced myself. It was a great group. Two lived in Costa Rica and the others were visiting. We had a good visit. Here is the group.

After eating, we drove to another beach called Playa Preciosa. You have to know how to get there, but I bet many of the resorts have transportation from the airport in Puerto Jimenez. We stopped at one of the resorts to get a look at the beach. Sorry, I don’t remember the name of the hotel, but its photo follows.

Here are four shots of the beach.

This dog followed us to the beach. He was a riot. All of a sudden, he started digging like crazy. Maybe he had buried bones on the beach and just remembered where he left them.

Thats it for the beach. We are going to head back to town.
However, before we go too far, lets stop for a little refreshment at Jade Luna.

Here is a photo of the restaurant.

Most wanted cappuccino. I wanted ginger ice cream. Unfortunately, when the waitress came back she said there was no ginger ice cream, so I ordered coffee ice cream. This was the best coffee ice cream I have ever had. I can only wonder how great the ginger would have been. I would like to go back and try the menu some day. It looked great!

On the way back to town, I was in front of the airport, so I took this photo of the planes that service, Puerto Jimenez.

That is it for this day’s journey. Were not done yet. Tune in again tomorrow.

Don,
You’re doing a good job. CR is a dynamite place. The price of admission can be a bit higher at times in CR but you get what you pay for most times! Just don’t know if I could’ve eaten that tamale first thing in the AM! I do like them but they are an awful lot of work for the ladies considering the results..
I wonder how you found the atmosphere in Pto Jiminez. I’ve heard that there are many undesirables about, but it looks like your’s was a daytime visit..
Anyhow, post more great pics & reviews. Maybe we’ll plan our next outing based on your travelogue!!

Hi KK. I found the atmosphere fine in Puerto Jimenez, but as you said, I was there strictly in the daytime.
