An Afternoon In Volcan
Feb 20th, 2008 by Don Ray
After having our scrumptious meal at Restaurante Acropolis, we returned to Bambito and here are some photos.
If you haven’t seen Hotel Bambito, you have missed a pretty sight.

It is surrounded by mountains that are covered with trees. The landscaping is extremely nice with several man-made ponds.

Here is another view.

The ponds have many ducks and this one asked if I would take his photograph.

Isabella is turning cartwheels and Luca is going to imitate her.

It is always to get a few photos that you can pull out in a few years and say, “See — This was when you and your brother got along!”

Across the road from Bambito is a “Fish and Pay” area. Here are some people trying their luck.

After Bambito, we drove on up to Guadalupe for some Fresas con creama. Here is Luca flirting with a new found friend. I think he is asking if she would like to share some strawberries with him.

Here is what we went to Guadalupe to get. Yummmmmmy!

We all had a great day. The only thing I would do over is not wear shorts to Volcan. I about froze my buns off. On the count of 3 say, “Burrrrrrrrr”. 1, 2, 3 Burrrrrrrr!!!!!!!
I have more photos and when I get caught up, I will put them in the photo album. Hope you enjoyed our day as much as we did.

You have some very nice photographs in this post.
Thank you for visiting my blog yesterday. It is “0″ degrees here this morning in Ohio at 4:00 a.m. and we have a full moon that lights up the snow. We got about 4-6 inches yesterday.
Hi Abe. Thanks for stopping in and leaving a comment. I don’t miss your kind of weather. Burrrrrrrr!
Nice timing. A group of we Boquetanos are heading to Volcan this very day. By the way, which Jimmy Dean are you quoting, the movie star or the suasage maker?
Hi Doc. Have fun on your outing. The quote is from James Dean the actor, not Jimmy Dean not favorite sausage maker.
Abraham Lincoln, wow, amazing blog you have there! I only discovered it by clicking on your name above. I must make a point of reading more of your site. Ohio sounds cold. Here in Ireland, it is about seven degrees (mid 40s). It has been below freezing for most of the last week at night time.
Don, great pictures! When I was looking across Panama last year, many told me to have a look up in Volcancito (for realty). But then a friend (a realtor who had lived there) told me that it was too cold up there……too cold to really sit out in the evenings on the terrace (windy and a fire was really needed in the evenings). Your comment about not wearing shorts again, allied with the picture of folks fishing (above) with most of them wearing big coats, has convinced me that it is chilly up that high!
Hi Sunshine. If you have missed out on Abe’s site you are in for a real treat. He has some of the best nature photos in all of Cyberspace. You should also search out his site that has photos taken of his time in Japan.
If you are talking about Volcancito of Boquete, it is not nearly as cold as in Volcan and Cerro Punta. I could handle Volcancito. Volcan and Cero Punta are at higher elevations and maybe because it is on the other side of the Baru, it is colder.
Ah, I am mixing up my Volcans! Though my friend did live in Volcancito of Boquete, and did say it was chilly in the evenings. She did say Boquete could be chilly too - with the cool breeze making her eyes water at times, when out in the yard. I guess it is all personal taste. Maybe I will hanker for the cool of the mountains, after a while cooking in lower altitudes!
Thanks for the tip re Abe’s site. The photos on that main page were awesome. I love my digital camera, and photoshop, thus I appreciate such imagery. I must spend some time on the site this weekend.
You will have a good time after you get moved. I smell another blog coming.
HI Don,
I’m feeling stupid. I can’t find your Volcan/Guadalupe pics in your photo album. Can you help me?
Terry
Hi Terry,
I don’t think I put a special section in the album area for Volcan/Guadalupe. Probably laziness on my part. I think most of the photos I have in that area are in posts I did of visits I made there. You might try the blog’s search area to look for Guadalupe. That should come up with whatever posts were made in that part of Panama.
