Casio Has Gone And Done It!
Feb 4th, 2008 by Don Ray

I had been thinking of adding a SLR to my camera arsenal, but I have changed my mind. After seeing the new Casio EXILIM Pro EX-F1, I have a new toy to put on my watch list.
If the camera matches up to its specs, it is going set a new benchmark for digital cameras. It isn’t cheap, but so far it is very unique. It may do for the digital camera what Apple’s iPhone has done for the cell phone.
Take a look at some of the following videos:

Wow, does it cook dinner too?
I actually like my SLR for action because I can reframe a bit as the mirror flips down. With a camera like this, you may not be able to pan with the action or adjust as it moves through the frame.
If you get one, let us know how you like it. I’ll bet I’m not the only interested reader.
I’m salivating, but I wonder if the folks at YouTube are ready for the bandwidth and storage that this could incur. Some interesting stats–12X optical zoom is very good as I think about it, though I may be a little out of date. What does 6 million effective pixels mean, do you think? All in all, this could raise the bar for the technologies involved. Thanks for the news, Don Ray.
Hi Tuxi and Frank.
It certainly looks interesting. I like that it can take video as well as still photos. It remains to be seen if it can match its specs, but if it does, I will be in the hunt.
Don,
I cannot view the videos with this pokey connection but the camera looks nice. Just don’t whip it out in a questionable neighborhood or bus station up in Boquete! BTW, what is the price?
KK
It is saying that the list price should be $999.
Thanks, dad. Reed needed just ONE more thing to add to his list. He said he’ll be purchasing this right after he gets the 56″ DLP 1080 P TV, 2008 Toyota Tacoma, 2 3-seater Sea Doos, and a bigger house. Then I nudged him and he woke up.
Sorry, but everyone needs a wish list.
