I received a call from the David Shopping Diva this morning, and she told me that PriceSmart has Jimmy Dean Croissants in the freezer section. DSD knows that I love Jimmy Dean sausage. The other day she sent me an email that Super 99 had cans of Pumpkin Pie filling. I have a pumpkin cheesecake recipe that will have to be make soon.
I guess I need to list other things I am looking for, because if anyone knows where it is in David, DSD knows. If you are looking for something, I am sure she will monitor this post and answer your request. 
Yum. Looks like I got to go to Price Smart soon. Leave a bag for me please.

Hominy, okra, frozen catfish, and Bush brand Boston Baked Beans. Can you tell I am from the South?
I have bought Bush Baked Beans in El Rey several times.
Green chili, fresh Anaheim chilies. Oh, wait, too much to ask. OK, canned green chili, the hotter the better. Any El Paso brand canned mexican-type foods.
HI: Would appreciate Nabisco Cracker Meal. I like this for making my own breaded shrimp, breaded pork chops, and scallops.
Hi DSD. Would like to know where I can buy hog casings. We always made our own fresh kielbasi in the US and we are hungry for good stuff.
Hi Don Ray - glad you’re enjoying your sausage croissants & hope to get a taste of your pumpkin dessert next time you make it. Glad to have been able to help. Now to the other inquiries - please note that although I’ve seen some of the stuff you’re asking for in the locations mentioned, that’s not to say they’re presently there - ok? Also, when scanning the supermarket shelves, think creatively as things are most often not stocked where you might think they should be.
John: have seen tinned okra at both Super99 and Super Baru. Bush’s Baked beans have been sited at Rey (as DR mentioned) and also at Super99. Have yet to see hominy, will will put it on my BOLO list. Have also yet to see frozen catfish here in Panama, but have seen it available in Costa Rica.
Fran: I’ve seen El Paso products at one time or another in every major supermarket in David, as well as PriceSmart. As for fresh, HOT chilies - speak to your favorite vegetable vendor. If they know you’re looking, they will find them.
Charlotte: Nabisco Craker meal - hmmmm, got me there. For breading chops, shrimp, etc. I use the fine bread crumbs sold at Super Baru. Sausage casings - fresh or synthetic? Either way - you got me again! I would suggest speaking to the folks at Berard in Volcan.

For a cracker meal replacement, I recommend the packaged breadcrumbs that is in PriceSmart. I have started using it for chicken fried steak and bet it would be perfect for fried shrimp.

I know it’s a bit of work, but you can make a very good substitute for Jimmy Dean. Get your butcher (I use Super Baru) to grind pork meat (about 75%) and pork fat–grasso (about 25%). Ask him to grind it a couple notches coarser than the regular ground beef. The first time, I took a friend to explain, now he knows exactly what I want. Add generous quantities of red pepper flakes, sage (which I can’t find right now), some seasoned salt and some worchestishire sauce. Massage it all together and enjoy.
