Diving In Panama
Dec 15th, 2007 by Don Ray

Thursday, I had the good fortune to meet Rey Sanchez. A friend of mine had invited me to go kayaking in the La Barqueta area and Rey is a neighbor of my friend and he went with us.
Rey is a Panamanian who has recently returned form living in Arizona for many years. As you can see from Rey’s cards above he is a diving instructor and after meeting him, I have added another adventure to my adventure To Do list.
He told me that his oldest student has been over 80 years old and after going out with Rey, all he could say was, “Why did I ever wait this long to do this?” Well if an 80+ year old can do it, then I probably can too.
If you are coming to Panama and want to try your hand at diving, you might want to look Rey up. After spending a fair amount of time with him, I can vouch for him being a real fine person, that definitely knows Panama and can converse equally well in English or Spanish.
If you contact Rey, tell him that his friend Don Ray, from Chiriquí Chatter, sent you.

Don Ray,
He might want to post something on Lonely Planet since some many people are interested in scuba diving in Panama. Cheers. John
Hi John.
Thanks for the idea. I will send him an email. I doubt if he is on the Internet too often, and he may not see your comment..
