What A Great Day
Dec 11th, 2007 by Don Ray
Yesterday evening, I was invited to have dinner in La Barqueta. I had the Thanksgiving Dinner that I didn’t have on Thanksgiving Day. It caused me to reflect and I think that this was the first turkey and dressing and all the fixings dinner I have had in over 5 years. Everything was absolutely perfect.
Here is an interesting tidbit about yesterday’s event. One of the other guests, that I met, was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Now what are the odds of having two gringos meet in Panama and both of them were born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. It just goes to show you how small this world really is.
The evening was absolutely beautiful. The weather in Panama sure beats the weather that Oklahoma is having now.
Most likely in honor of two Okies from Muskogee being in this small beach at the same time, there was a Panamanian flyby. This isn’t the same as the Blue Angles, but I thought it was better.

Take a look at this pretty sunset looking over the Pacific. Boy oh boy, it just doesn’t get any better than this.

Darn, Don Ray, just as I was about to write, “Two….,” you beat me to it.
For us non-Panamiams, could you pinpoint the location of the beach, and just what kind of fly-bys were they?
Hi Tom. Playa La Barqueta is reached from David by driving down the the street that goes by McDonalds in the direction of the car dealers. At the corner before the church, you will see a sign to Las Olas. Turn right and follow the signs to Las Olas. It is on the beach of Playa La Barqueta and the location of all the turtle releases.
The birds doing the flyby were pelicans.
Don Ray:
You just gave directions like panamanians do, no north or south or east or west, just using points of refernce. Good job! And, how envious you make us… it will be mid 30’s in Central California tonite, and is getting darker earlier. I wish I was there…
Jaime
Hi Jamie.
It is difficult to use street signs because there are so few signs. I must admit that when I drive in David, I never know which direction I am going.
It is really nice to have somebody from another country so involved in our daily life here in David. I am sure that you are more aware of what is happening here in the City than a lot of people from chiriqui.
You are doing an exellent job.
congratulations.
Hi Dario. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
