Ice Skating In David!
Dec 5th, 2007 by Don Ray
Well it will be sort of like ice skating. While I was in the Chiriquí Mall yesterday, I wondered why the Christmas tree was surrounded with this large area. I figured it might be for some performance, so I asked a fellow that was sweeping it. He called another over and I was told that they were preparing a skating rink. From now until the middle of January they will be having skating everyday from 2:00PM until 10:00 PM.
The price will be $2:00 for between 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on how many are waiting to skate. To the left is a complimentary ticket they gave me. More about that later.
For the $2.00 you will get a pair of skates to use. As you can see below, they look just like hockey skates.

To prepare the rink, they spread a liquid substance on each tile. In this photo you can see the liquid being poured on the skating surface.

Then the liquid is evenly spread just like applying a wax.

Here is a closeup of some of the liquid waiting to be spread.

I didn’t get to take any photos of people skating, since it was too early. Now back to my ticket that you saw above. I will be happy to give the ticket to the first person that contacts me and says that they will use it and allow me to take their photo. I will meet you at the rink, but it must be in the afternoon. However, skate at your own risk. I will not be responsible for any accident that comes from using my free ticket. ![]()

I just took a photo from our skating-rinks, where boys and girls are hours in evenings instead of sitting at home clicking computer. We have three big rinks near school in this part of the town and many others in other parts. Something good about the cold weather!!
It is probably about 88 degrees in the David rink.
