Restaurante Renegado Revisited
Nov 13th, 2007 by Don Ray
After the First Shout For Independence Parade, we headed for Restaurante Renegado for lunch. While I am thinking about it, let me give you something to think about. The restaurant has two Panamanian employees that worked on this holiday. If a business operates on a holiday, it is required to pay the employees 2 ½ times their regular pay. That means that this restaurant had an overhead of $50 to cover before it would make any profit. Consider this when you get ready to ask for your discount. I know this is something I often forget, so I thought I would pass it on. This is a new business with a lot of start up costs and I would like to see them have a good chance.
Since I had looked at the menu on my first visit, I knew what I was going to try. I had Osobucco with rice. As you can see from the following photo, it has a rich gravy. The flavor was very good and this plate left me with barely enough room for some flan.

Another at the table had fish smothered in a verrrrrry tasty seafood sauce and sautéed potatoes. (Yes, I did get a taste.)

The third plate was Bistek Res al Tinto (in red wine). While I didn’t taste it, I was told that it was outstanding.

We all topped off our meals with the house flan. It was nice and light, with some strawberry juice on the top. Yummmm!

This restaurant has been a good find. Remember, when you go, give my regards to David and Berta.
