The Best Of Both Worlds

Tomorrow, UBUNTO officially releases its 7.10 version of Linux. In a short number of years, UBUNTU has taken the Linux community by storm, becoming one of the most popular distributions. I have been running a pre-release of 7.10 for over a week and it upgraded easily and has run flawlessly. I will install the official release on my primary PC tomorrow after backing up all of my files.
Many people may not want to install Linux because their children run games on their PC. You can move to Linux and with the money saved you can buy a new PS3, Xbox or wii, which is what I bought. Then you can put the real game machine in the living room, where it belongs. That is like having the best of both worlds. I am ready for my grandkids to come visit me.
There are really only three types of PC operating systems now. Micro$oft, Linux, and Apple OSX (which is really based off BSD – another branch of Linux). So when you get right down to it, there are really two camps, Linux and Micro$oft.
Apple is coming out with its latest version on October 26. It will cost you $129, plus the cost of a very expensive PC, if you don’t already have an Apple running the Tiger system.
You can buy Micro$oft Vista for several hundred dollars and find out that you need to upgrade to a more costly PC to run all the glitzy features. Don’t forget that you will need new anti-virus and spyware software that is required to survive in the M$ world.
Or you can decide that you just need solid computing power and spend nothing and download UBUNTU. My grandkids use UBUNTU on their PCs and where they were continually plagued with viruses before, they no longer have any degradation problems due to viruses or spyware. To quote my granddaughter Lindsay, “UBUNTU is amazing”.
