Another Side of Sofia

One always forgets the times of a tornado sweeping through the house on mornings like this. Every morning, while I am on the PC, Sofia will walk in and want to sit on my lap. She will look up, with those big beautiful brown eyes, and extend her arms for me to pick her up.

Not being able to resist such a wonderful sight, I pick her up and receive the sweetest hug. Now if that isn’t the best way to start off a day, I don’t know what is.

Last Saturday, I went to the Rico Mar for lunch. Sofia had a great time playing peek-a-boo. Here she is with her mother behind her protecting her from falling.

I don’t know what I enjoyed more. My food (once again I ordered the pepper steak for $5.20) or watching Sofia make friends with everyone in the restaurant.

While I was there I got another recommendation for Las Brasas for hamburgers. Apparently their hamburgers are grilled over charcoal. I may have to break down and have an early evening meal around 5:00PM one of these days. I wonder if Sofia will eat a hamburger with me.

The best advice that your mother ever gave you was.
“Go! You might meet somebody!”

A Delinquent Thank You

I have been delinquent in saying “Thank You” for a most delectable treat I was given. I had been asked if I could pick up some items while I was in the US. It was no trouble and I was glad to do it. About a week after I returned, I received this wonderful flan for bring back the items.

You know who you are. Thank you for helping me to increase my waist size. That was the best flan I have has in I don’t know when!

A Small Tornado Hits David

Olivia, you have competition south of the border. Yesterday morning I took Sofia’s mother to the airport because she is going to spend a few days vacation outside of Panama. Here is a photo of Sofia with her mother, Dr. Sussan. Sussan appears to be happy and Sofia appears to be pondering what she is going to do while her mother is away.

Upon returning to the house, I learned that children are the same all over the world. Sofia , in the blink of an eye, managed to mark up two walls in the house with a pencil. Now Sofia is only 1 ½ years old. Olivia is now 2 and more advanced in her artistic ability. Given a little more time, I think that Sofia may equal her peer in Texas.

In time, Sofia will learn that a Marks-a-Lot marker will create a longer lasting picture. Given a little more time, she will be able to reach in the drawer that contains lipstick. It was a long time ago when my kids were that age and I guess I have forgotten that all young ones are similar.

I am just relieved to know that Texas isn’t the only place with instantaneous tornadoes.

Chiriquí Chatter Amigos

If you were reading the blog this morning and the image was sometimes there and sometimes wasn’t, that was me in the middle of upgrading the MistyLook theme to 3.4 from 3.3.1. Seems like I just got 3.3.1 in and then I find that a newer version is out. It was a simple replacement, but it did take me a little while to figure out how I was losing the image. I think all is well again.

I also noticed this morning that in one of my previous change sessions, I think when WordPress was upgraded, I lost my visitor’s map in the right sidebar. While researching how to replace it, I came upon a different world map that provides more options and flexibility. I have included it in the sidebar and labeled it Chiriquí Chatter Amigos.

If you take the time to click on the icon (or the image below) and place yourself on the map, I would appreciate it. It will also allow you to write a little about yourself and your interest in Panama or the blog. If you just want to record that you have been here and done that, then that is okay too.

When you make a mistake, make amends immediately. It’s easier to eat crow while it’s still warm.

Do The Channels On Cable Onda Stutter?

Today a couple of my channels have a terrible stutter. This is obviously a problem in the reception strength of the satellite broadcast that Astrovision is receiving. It is not uncommon for channel 56 (Fox News) to have the sound out of sync with the picture. However, today is the worst I have seen. Several times the picture has repeated the same word four or five time. I swear my TV channel is stuttering.
