Maybe You Know
Aug 10th, 2007 by Don Ray
Last week I had a reader write me and ask about orphanages in David because they wanted to make a contribution. I have one person that is supposed to get back to me with information, but so far I haven’t heard from them.
If you know of orphanages in the David area and can post their Name and contact information as a comment, I would appreciate it. For the person that made the request, I haven’t forgotten, but you email is currently on the PC that is in the shop, and that is why I haven’t gotten back in touch.

I know of a 25 student/one teacher rural school which can use some help. You can read about a recent fund raiser at http://www.boquete-bajareque-times.com/index.php?id=52
The lady doing the work is Donna who with her husband operate a fishing resort at Boca Chica. Her email is on the website..

Don Ray..That link doesn’t work anymore.
Hi Don:
In David we have home for childrens,
One is Medalla Milagrosa, next to the David Cathedral
The other is Hogar San Francisco this is in the Back of Franklin Jurado and the other place is Aldeas SOS next to the Ciudad Judicial in the way to the airport.
I have the contact information for the Hogar de la Medalla Milagrosa (orphanage) as hmedallam@cwpanama.net.
Can you provide me the contact information for Hogar San Francisco?
My wife and I have helped with needed supplies at Medalla Milagrosa in the past. It is a home for girls run by the Catholic Church. The last time we were there they had 70 girls there ages 4 through 17. The first time we asked what they needed and they said “New escobas” (brooms). So we went the new Rey store and bought 54 brooms. You should have seen the looks we got at the check out. Definitely an organization that can use a little help. The secretary speaks a little English. I believe their phone number is 775-4403.
Thanks Ron.
Hi Mr. Williams,
Nice to see that Mr. Cano helped you get rid of the computer generated headcahe. Voltage oscillations are frequent in this area.
Here is the phone number of Hogar Medalla Milagrosa:
775-4855 Sister Amadita Pinzon, Director.
Today is Saturday and I just found out that Sr. Amadita is in a meeting with girls in Boquete; her cell phone No. is 6709-3713. The Medalla´s home in Boquete is across the street, to the left of Farmacia Revilla. Their e-mail is:
hmedallam@cwpanama.net.
I´d be glad to facilitate their interaction, if needed.
Hi Hilda. I have forwarded your message to the interested party. Thank you for your offered assistance.
Hi again, here is the phone number of Hogar San Francisco. Sr. Juliana, Director, just told me they have 38 boys ( ages 5 to 12).
Their phone number is 775-3045. She said they kindly accept any contribution. Needless to say, if I can help them communicate, I´ll be glad to do it. Señor Singh, éxitos con su labor como Presidente de los Leones de Boquete. I suppose the cookies will be sold in David, August 18th…
Hi,
does anyone know if the Hogar de la Medalla Milagrosa supports adoptions? My wife and I would love to adopt a daughter from Chiriqui. We live in California but have spent some time in Boquete.
Thanks
Hi Francis, I am sure that an answer will come in for your question.
Hi! I just asked a friend who is leaving for the weekly Rosary of la Virgen de la Medalla Milagrosa. She said no, but suggested to contact Hospital Materno Infantil José Domingo De Obaldía ( Obaldia Hospital, for short) or Nutre-Hogar David. I´ll be glad to ask about this tomorrow, and give you the names and addresses of the people you can talk with. Best regards, Hilda
Thanks Hilda.
Good morning! Those interested in adopting chiricanos children may contact Lic. Rodney Moreno at the Ministry of Social Development, David offices, Interamerican Highway, white and yellow building in front of HOPSA, David. (Or, turing right at the intersection of Calle de la Muerte and the Interamerican Highway). His phone “775-7907 is mostly busy due to job demands, so those who call should insist.”(sic). The secretary said there are 14 requisites. This reminds me of a friend who spent 4 months in Peru with all the red tape involved in adopting a girl. It seems to me that in order to reach that goal Francis and wife may be back in Chiriqui sooner or later. Regards, Hilda
Thanks for the update Hilda.
